Project Report on Polythene Bags

Polythene bags were introduced as substitution to paper bags which were used initially for packing house hold commodities like eatables. Due to their characteristics like light weight and cheep cost, they gained the popularity quickly resulting in misuse rather than use of this gifted accident (Polythene was discovered by chance at first during an experiment in 1898). Despite of its benefits and due to misuse, polythene has become a major concern for the living environment of human being. Ignorant people have found a way to use and throw polythene converting a packing material to waste that chocks drains and become a house of many diseases. Polythene shopping bags are made of polythene sheets which is fast replacing cellulose acetate (cellophane film). Polythene sheet is transparent, tough non toxic, not affect by humidity and is chemically inert. Polythene bags are much suitable for packing purposes. Polythene sheets has possibilities in the packing field where protection against moisture and monsoon condition are  required. Polythene is available commercially in two specific types a conventional branched low  density polythene and a linear high density polythene has become familiar to common man due  to its characteristics as exhibited in films sheeting plastic bottles plastic piping and tube dish pans baskets television antena  wire and tublers etc.
