Software and software services have become the order of day. Organizing the development and distribution of these services is largely  handled by computer  centers. The  different  services which will be provided by  the  computer center considered here are

(i) Software services, (ii) Computer programming classes and, (iii) Industrial computer packages. Besides,  the job the date processing can also be taken  up, depending upon the requirements of local clients. The total range of services that can be provided by existing consultants/data  centers/services bureaus are  numerous. These 'service house' can be classified as -  Software development houses without in house computers. Software development houses with in house computers. Data entry houses. Data centers without in house computers. Machine time sellers. Computer training houses. Software exporters. A  data center,  redefined, therefore, is  a  center  which provides  computer services to a client. The client  hands over problem to the center for mechanisation, and  the latter translates it  into a form by which it can be performed by the computer. The services must be provided to the customer on a timely, regular and reliable basis. The activities performed by the centre are data control,data entry and verification, check listing, updating of files,  report generation, output control/quality, documentation, user training, housekeeping crisis management and software maintenance.
